This painting depicts the Memorial Fountain located at the entrance to Pioneer Walkway in Osoyoos, British Columbia. For many residents and visitors, it is a familiar landmark—a place passed on walks through town, while visiting the lake, or simply enjoying a summer afternoon.
I was drawn to the movement of the water, the surrounding greenery, and the way the fountain creates a sense of calm in the middle of a busy community space. While painting this piece, I wanted to capture not only the appearance of the fountain but also the quiet atmosphere that surrounds it.
Much of my artwork is inspired by the South Okanagan: its landscapes, wildlife, small-town character, and the stories that become attached to places over time. Whether I am working in watercolour, mixed media, relief printmaking, or photography, I am interested in recording moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
The Memorial Fountain was one of the final projects associated with the Osoyoos Downtown Revitalization initiative and was completed in October 2000. Today it continues to serve as a gathering place and a recognizable feature of the community.
I am an artist based in Osoyoos, British Columbia. Through painting, printmaking, photography, and storytelling, I explore the relationship between people, memory, landscape, and place.
This page is part of an ongoing collection of artwork and stories inspired by life in the South Okanagan.
Additional paintings, block prints, photographs, and stories will be added over time.
