Spring Beginnings

Spring Beginnings reduction linocut print

Story

Spring has always felt like a time of renewal to me. After the quiet of winter, everything begins to come alive again — the mountains, the trees, the fields, and especially the wildflowers.

The flowers in the foreground are what drew me to this scene. Their arrival feels like a welcome to spring, with the mountains and my house providing a familiar landscape in the distance.

I wanted this print to capture that feeling of those first signs of life returning — that sense that winter is finally giving way to a new season.

The Inspiration Behind the Print

The meadow photograph below is the original scene that inspired Spring Beginnings. The other two photographs were taken during the same spring outing and show the wildflowers and mountain landscape that helped shape the feeling behind the print.
